This site, im4ds.com, is operated by Great Circle Associates, Inc. It exists to promote the forthcoming book Incident Management for DevOps and SRE by Brent Chapman, and to let interested readers sign up for notices related to the book.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Email signup form

The only personal information this site collects is your email address, which you provide voluntarily through the signup form on the home page.

We use your email address to:

• Notify you when the book becomes available.
• Send you occasional progress updates about the book.
• Offer early access to selected content related to the book.

We will not use your email address for any other purpose, and we will not sell, rent, or share it with third parties for their own marketing use.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses a small number of technical cookies required for WordPress, our content management system, to function correctly.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use the page. GA4 sets first-party cookies that store anonymous identifiers used to distinguish between visitors and sessions. The information collected includes pages viewed, approximate geographic location (city or region level), device and browser type, referring source, and interactions with the email signup form.

IP addresses are anonymized by Google before storage and are not available to us. We do not use GA4’s advertising or cross-site tracking features — “Google Signals” is disabled on our property, so your activity on this site is not linked to your activity on other websites. Event-level data is retained for 2 months.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by:

• Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
• Enabling “Do Not Track” or a tracker-blocking extension in your browser
• Declining cookies in your browser settings

Who we share your data with

Email addresses submitted through this site are stored in Mailchimp, our email service provider, so that we can send you the notifications you signed up for. Mailchimp is owned by Intuit; their privacy statement is available at https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement/.

We do not share your email address with any other third parties.

How long we retain your data

We retain subscribers’ email addresses for as long as they are subscribed, plus a reasonable period afterward for our own records. Unsubscribing removes you from future mailings; emailing us (see below) to request full deletion removes your address from our records entirely.

What rights you have over your data

You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send.

You can also request that we export or permanently delete any personal data we hold about you. To do so, email us at privacy@greatcircle.com. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email.
